Since Dragon Age is a Dark Fantasy, there's plenty to potentially opt out of. With Anders specifically, he commits an act of domestic terrorism on a church in the name of political activism by his canon point. This is in answer to:

genocide

abuse of mages

In addition, personally, Anders' history involves those same themes as well as:

institutional torture

institutional lobatomy

religious torment

unhealthy relationships with food

depression

suicidal ideation/intention

loss of self through possession
